Shopify Apps
Shopify apps merchants keep installed
Embedded apps and storefront extensions that feel native to Shopify — because they are.
Shopify is a demanding platform to build on — deliberately. API versions rotate quarterly, app review standards keep rising, and checkout is locked down for good reason. That discipline is exactly what makes well-built Shopify apps valuable: merchants trust the platform, and they extend that trust to apps that respect it.
We build apps that work with Shopify’s grain: embedded admin experiences on Polaris, webhook pipelines that treat retries and out-of-order delivery as normal, and GraphQL usage designed around rate limits instead of into them. Whether it’s a custom app for your own store or a public app headed for the App Store, the engineering bar is the same.
And because commerce code moves money, we treat correctness the way the domain demands — reconciliation over optimism, idempotency over apologies, and billing logic tested against the invoices it produces.
Capabilities
Shopify Apps, in practice
Public and custom app development
Embedded admin apps built on Shopify's app framework — Polaris UI, session tokens, and the API version discipline the platform demands.
Storefront and checkout extensions
Theme app extensions and checkout UI extensions that add functionality without breaking a merchant's theme or their checkout conversion.
Shopify integrations
Two-way sync between Shopify and your ERP, warehouse, CRM, or custom backend — webhook-driven, idempotent, and reconciled so counts never drift.
App Store readiness
Performance, billing, and requirement reviews that get apps through Shopify's approval process — and keep them compliant as requirements evolve.
Questions we hear
Asked before, answered honestly
Should we build a public App Store app or a custom app?
It depends on who it's for. If the app solves your own store's problem, a custom app skips the review process and ships faster. If it's a product for other merchants, we build for App Store review from day one — retrofitting compliance later is far more expensive.
How do you handle Shopify's API deprecations?
As routine maintenance, not emergencies. Shopify versions its APIs quarterly with published sunset dates; we pin versions explicitly, test against release candidates, and schedule upgrades before deadlines. Apps we maintain don't get the surprise-breakage email.
Can you fix an app that keeps getting rejected by Shopify review?
Usually, yes. Most rejections trace to a handful of causes — session token misuse, billing API gaps, performance in the embedded admin. We audit against the current requirements, fix the real issues, and resubmit with a clear record of what changed.
Do you work with checkout extensibility?
Yes. With checkout.liquid retired, checkout customization means checkout UI extensions and Shopify Functions. We build both — discounts, validation, custom checkout fields — within the constraints Shopify enforces for checkout reliability.
